My first official blog here was about NASCAR drivers, teams, and media on Twitter. I think it is time to update my list of people to watch out for especially with the 2010 season upon us. I am hoping that the usual jokes and such between the drivers, media, and teams will be seen again this season. This off season has been quite quiet when it comes to most of the drivers, yet other drivers have really became chummy with us followers which I appreciate. Even some of the media girls and guys are interacting with us which definitely makes a girl like me smile.
I will start with the media guys first.
Jeff Gluck (@jeff_gluck) who will now found at SBNation.com (@sbnation) He is one of the nicest writers that I have came across in the last few months of being on Twitter. He definitely brings his followers on the ride no matter how high or low things can be for him. I was kind of worried that I was not going to be able to read his articles during the 2010 when the announcement of his former employer was cutting his department. I know Tony Stewart might not be happy yet I think think the fans this round I think cause he has decided to write and post articles at SBNation.com where we can read and follow his adventures on and off the track.
P.S. I might be stealing his idea of a monthly Twitter statistics with my own spin. Hope he does not mind. ;o)
The next three guys are from @ESPN and I really love to read their tweets. Marty Smith (@MartySmithESPN), Mike Massaro (@MikeMassaroESPN) and Ryan McGee (@RyanMcGeeESPN). The three of them really have kind hearts and really make a fan feel respected when they reply back. I also like the fact that each of them ask for their Twitter family opinion on things. It just goes to show that the little guys and girls are heard. Thanks, guys!
Now to the drivers.
First and foremost I have to give mad props to Juan Pablo Montoya (@jpmontoya) who I have to come to see as a shining light these last few months. Here is a guy who loves to build and play with remote control planes of all makes and sizes. How can you not appreciate a guy who loves his toys?
Here I go mentioning one Earnhardt-Ganassi Racing driver I should mention the other who is new to Twitter. I think he will get the hang of it in no time at all. He is one of my top picks this season for most not talked about our boy Jamie Mc Murray (@JamieMcMurray). He is getting a good hang of things and I know he will be having as much fun as all the other guys on here.
I have to mention my other driver for the season this year here at NASCAR Space Station and that is the ever so handsome Martin Truex, Jr.. (@MartinTruexJr56) who is another new driver to the social network. He actually just joined on Saturday most likely cause is younger brother Ryan Truex (@rtruex00) was teasing him. Yes it does seem like all of the drivers from Michael Waltrip Racing (@MWRteam) are now joining the fun including the newest guy who joined today Trevor Bayne (@tbayne99) who quickly followed me back today. That gives him a plus in my book.
Speaking of drivers who follow I have to say, “Hello!” to Colin Braun (@ColinBraun) who has to be one of the sweetest guys. I just hope for his sake that Joey Cohen (@JCohen16) gets 1000 followers by the time of the first race. I really have no idea why he wants to have that many, yet I am here to help him. Follow Joey and make him smile.
Now I think it is time to mention one guy who has definitely kept me on my toes with his tweets this off season. That would definitely have to be Denny Hamlin (@DennyHamlin) who drives the Fed Ex Toyota for Joe Gibbs Racing (@JoeGibbsRacing). I just hope his luck is good in the car this season while he is driving with an ACL injury. I am scared to ask how this happened cause he had just went through minor surgery on one of his legs in December. Hopefully it is not the same leg. If so all I have to say is OUCH!
Husband and wife team time has come.
This team has to be one of my utmost favorites. It is Scott Speed (@ScottSpeed) and his beautiful wife Amanda Speed (@Amanda_Speed). In late December Scott came on Twitter and has never left and the beginning of January was when Amanda followed. The two of them always have me laughing from their crazy outfits for playing pool or ping pong to just the simplest of things. They are a welcome addition to the social network. By the way, I am a new fan of Scott who will definitely be watching him more closely this season.
Honorable Mentions:
@KaseyKahne
@ElliottSadler
@MattK17
@LandonCassill
@BradCColeman and his cute dog @AmeliaEColeman
@KevinHarvick and his beautiful wife @DeLanaHarvick
@McDriver
Okay I can admit I am following almost everyone from NASCAR who is on Twitter. So I will be doing a monthly wrap up Spacie Stacie style. You never know will end up on the list, just do not be surprised when you do not see some of the common people.
Have A Twitterific February 2010!
Stacie
